ZIELONA GORA, Poland, June 5, 2016 - Lynda Morales scored 21
points for Puerto Rico helping her team to a 3-2 (18-25, 25-23,
15-25, 28-26, 15-13) victory over Poland in an epic five-setter.
Morales was the top scorer for Puerto Rico with 21 points (four
blocks) contributing to a third consecutive World Grand Prix win
in the tournament. Poland’s Berenika Tomsia added as much as
match-high 29 points to her team’s final result to finish the
tournament with 67 points scored.
Puerto Rico’s coach Juan Carlos Núñez: “This group of players is
working very hard. Lately they got used to winning, and they
don’t give up, they fight even in difficult moments and try to
take advantage of all opportunities. I feel that this team is in
its best moment - we’re looking forward for next matches of
World Grand Prix and our aim is to qualify for the Finals.”
Also in Poland, Czech Republic won their last match Group 2
tournament, downing team Canada without dropping a set (25-13,
25-18, 25-23).
Czech captain Tereza Rossi contributed to her team’s victory
with 15 points, including three service aces and three blocks.
Canada’s Danielle Brisebois was not far behind with 14 points
