More than four thousand fans confirm the

growth of volleyball in Mexico

PUEBLA, Mexico, March 31, 2026.– More than four thousand fans gathered at the Miguel Hidalgo Gymnasium to witness the semifinal match between Guerreras de Puebla and Coronelas de Durango, in a night that reflected the growth of volleyball in the country and the passion of a fan base that continues to strengthen in the 2026 MX Volleyball Professional League.

Coronelas de Durango took the advantage in the semifinal series after defeating Guerreras de Puebla 3-1 on the road, with set scores of 25-19, 25-22, 22-25, and 25-17. The Durango squad showed consistency throughout much of the match to secure the victory and move ahead in the series before the return leg.

The visiting team proved more effective on offense during the match, scoring 59 attack points, along with 14 blocks and 10 aces. Guerreras, meanwhile, registered 50 attack points, 6 blocks, and 7 aces. Coronelas also dominated in attacking efficiency with a 49% success rate, surpassing Puebla’s 38%.

The most valuable player of the match was Michelle Alejandra Lizárraga González, who led the Coronelas offense with 22 points, including 19 attacks, two blocks, and one ace, playing a decisive role in securing the victory for her team.

Also standing out for Durango were Atenas Gutiérrez, who contributed 21 points and served as one of the team’s main offensive weapons, and Klaudia Pawlik, who scored 15 points, including eight blocks. Pawlik also solidified her position as the tournament’s best blocker with 65 blocks this season.

For Guerreras, Ivy Vila was the top scorer with 20 points, while Paola Martínez added seven points and continues to lead the league’s scoring chart with 377 points. Martínez also tops the list of most efficient attackers with a 39.5% attack efficiency.

On the defensive side, Paulett Muñoz remains a key player for Puebla, ranking as the best receiver in the championship with 40.5% perfect receptions.

With this result, Coronelas take the lead in the semifinal series, which will continue on April 4 with the return match, where Guerreras aim to even the series and keep their hopes alive of advancing to the final of the 2026 MX Volleyball Professional League season.
