NORCECA Beach Tour in Managua
MANAGUA, Nicaragua, may 2, 2019. – The NORCECA Beach Volleyball
Tour arrived in Managua, Nicaragua, at the Paseo Xolotlán
Stadium, the same stage that received the Central American Games
less than two years ago.
From May 3 to 5, 15 couples in women and 16 in men, will try to
share the medals of the third stop of the NORCECA Tour, after
appointments in Aguas Calientes, Mexico, and the Cayman Islands.
The president of the Nicaraguan Volleyball Federation, engineer
Bertha Cuadra, welcomed the athletes and thanked the support of
the central government and the Mayor's Office of Managua.
"Welcome to our beautiful country, we hope you feel at home,
enjoy the tournament and have good volleyball."
Meanwhile, the vice mayor of Managua, Enrique Armas, said that
"we are proud to have a great event in our city. It is
undoubtedly the most important event of the year, among which we
have organized as boxing or cycling. It is a joint effort of the
Volleyball Federation, the Olympic Committee, the government and
the Nicaraguan Sports Institute."
"We want to reactivate Nicaragua as the capital of Central
American sport," Armas said.
“In both tournaments the pairs will be divided into four groups
for the preliminary round. The two best teams in each group will
advance to the next round and discuss the best eight places”,
explained Daymian Stewart, Competition Director by NORCECA.
The gold medalists of the first stop of the NORCECA Tour Maylen
Deliz and Leila Martinez are the head of group in the A. In the
B, Mexico with Stephanie Burnside / Cinthya Cruz, as well as the
Canadians Dunn-Suen / Cruickshank; in the C, Kaley Melville /
Lindsay Fuller, of the United States, and in the D, MAY /
Lenarduzzi, of Canada.
The Cubans Sergio González, along with Luis Enrique Reyes,
winners of bronze and silver medals in the first two stops of
the tour, stand out in Managua.
The competition starts every day at 9:30 a.m. (local time), the
preliminary round will be deputized on Friday and part of
Saturday, while the semifinals and finals are scheduled for
Sunday, followed by the award ceremony. |
