NORCECA Beach Tournament to start in Aguascalientes
AGUASCALIENTES, Mexico, April 12, 2018 – The 2018 NORCECA Beach
Volleyball Circuit gets underway on Friday at San Marcos Island
of Aguascalientes with players hailing from thirteen countries.
Sixteen teams per gender have been registered for the
competition, with host Mexico fielding three teams per gender.
Cubans Daisel Quesada and Karell Peña have experienced the most
success in the history of the tournament among the players
registered. Peña has won 10 gold medals, including five since
he has been teaming up with Peña.
The countries represented besides Mexico are: Canada, Cayman
Islands, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala,
Nicaragua, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago,
United States and U.S. Virgin Islands.
El Salvador and St Kitts and Nevis will be represented only in
the men’s competition with the other countries registering at
least one team per segment.
The 16 teams will be divided into four pools of four teams with
the top two teams from each pool advancing to the knock-out
round of Saturday and Sunday.
