NORCECA Circuit has been totally cancelled
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, June 25, 2020 – The 2020
NORCECA Circuit has been totally cancelled following the virtual
meeting of the Beach Volleyball Commission presided over by Ed
Drakich of Canada.
The members of the commission unanimously voted to cancel the
seven remaining events in the calendar –three in Dominican
Republic, two in Mexico, and one each in Nicaragua and Cuba.
“The current traveling restrictions and the uncertain
sponsorship for those events considering the negative impact
caused by the pandemic COVID-19 were taken in consideration for
the cancellation of the event,” said Indhira Ramirez, director
of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Department.
Regarding the Inter Zonal Phase of the Continental Cup with the
participation of teams from ECVA, CAZOVA and AFECAVOL in
Nicaragua, they maintained the month of December with the dates
to be announced.
The Finals will be played in Colima, Mexico from June 23-28. In
order for players to be eligible to participate in the Olympic
Games they must have participated in at least 12 tournaments
(including the Finals) from June 2018.
It was decided to organize once a year Youth Continental
Championship, in order to establish a ranking to participate in
the age-group U-19 and U-21 FIVB World Championships and the Pan
American and Olympic Youth Olympic Games.
For the 2022 Panama Central American and Caribbean Games the 24
eligible participants will be considered from the accumulate
rankings from January 1st 2018 to December 31 of 2021. |
