PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, November 1, 2015 – Cristobal
Marte Hoffiz of the Dominican Republic was re-elected as
president of the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball
Confederation for the period 2015-19.
The re-election of Marte Hoffiz, who has occupied the position
since 2001, took place by acclamation by the representatives of
41 National Federations and Territories at the XXIII NORCECA
Congress in the presence of
Dr. Ary S. Graça F°,
president of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).
In his acceptance speech, Marte Hoffiz promised to continue
“working with passion, patience and perseverance to reach new
stages and achieve bigger goals.”
“I am sure that with the help of all national federations we
will be able to realize our dreams and make volleyball one of
the top sports in our continent,” Marte Hoffiz said.
In the NORCECA Executive Committee, Marte Hoffiz will be
accompanied by Saul Castro Verdugo of Mexico and Doug Beal of
United States as First and Second Executive Vice Presidents,
respectively, and José Luis Jimenez of Costa Rica and Wilbur
Harrigan of Antigua & Barbuda as General Secretary and
Treasurer.
The other members are Executive Vice Presidents Mushtaque
Mohammed of Trinidad & Tobago from CAZOVA, Marta Centeno de
Sajche of Guatemala from AFECAVOL, Glenn Quinlan of St Kitts &
Nevis from ECVA and Mireya Luis of Cuba as member.
The Board of Administration is composed by the members of the EC
and also Jaime Lamboy of Puerto Rico, Ariel Sainz of Cuba,
Lucille Hobson of U.S. Virgin Islands, Warrenton Dixon of
Jamaica, Felix Sabio of Honduras and Sabinah Clement of British
Virgin Islands.
The new Executive Committee and Board of Administration also
announced the presidents of the different commissions and
members.
The presidents of the commissions are:
Castro Verdugo (Sport Organizing), Mohammed (Development), Sainz
(Coaches), Victor Figueroa of Dominican Republic (Medical),
Arturo Couoh of Mexico (Press), Jose R. Perez Vento of Puerto
Rico (Refereeing), Giovanni Gautreaux of Dominican Republic
(Legal), Judith Sandino of Nicaragua (VIS and Statistics),
Alberto Arreola of Mexico (Finances), Lori Okimura of United
States (Marketing) and Ed Drakich of Canada (Beach Volleyball). |
