NORCECA Refereeing Commission holds virtual meeting
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 23, 2020 – The NORCECA
Refereeing Commission held its annual remote meeting on
Wednesday chaired by president Jose Ramón Perez Vento.
The meeting opened with the welcoming words by NORCECA President
Cristobal Marte Hoffiz who commented on the situation created by
the pandemic Covid-19 which has affected the normal activities
forcing the cancellation of the beach volleyball circuit as well
as most of the volleyball events.
Perez Vento explained the situation of the refereeing within
NORCECA highlighting that the confederation is prepared to face
the next two Olympic cycles but required the cooperation of
National Federations in order to continue with that rate of
development.
Guy Bradbury and Andre Trottier reported on the last two courses
held – in volleyball and beach volleyball- in Tijuana and
Dominican Republic.
Trottier also informed about the plan of organizing two on line
referee and coaches on-line via the Regional Development Center
in Dominican Republic
Perez Vento informed that eleven referees from NORCECA
officiated matches at world competitions last year adding that
20 referees are licensed by FIVB and 12 more will be added next
year.
Jorge Villalobos of AFECAVOL, Brian Charles of CAZOVA and
Reginald Willenberg of ECVA, presented reports on the situation
of refereeing in their respective zones.
At the end of the 2 ½ hours meeting, Bradbury presented the
projected NORCECA uniforms for referees with the corresponding
badges. |
