NORCECA XXV Congress gets underway on Saturday

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, October 23, 2020 - The NORCECA Volleyball Confederation is already prepared for the celebration on Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25 its XXV Congress that will be held using a virtual platform.

During the morning and afternoon of Friday, the Confederation had its meeting of the Executive Committee and Council of Administration where the details of what the Congress were presented.

The 2020 Congress will be elective where the Dominican Cristóbal Marte Hoffiz will be re-elected as president of the entity that he has presided over since 2001.

“The Congress will be held virtually in the face of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic that affects the whole world, but we will have the participation of the 41 National Federations and Territories, members of the Executive Committee, NORCECA staff in addition to the president and Executive Director of the FIVB,” said Marte Hoffiz.

The Congress will begin at 10:00 AM, the virtual work agenda includes two sessions on October 24 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, while on October 25 it will be only a session from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

The activities will begin with the words of the President of Norceca and those of the President of the FIVB, Dr. Ary Graca.

After the financial reports of the internal and external auditors and the reports of the 11 commissions, the elections will be held.

Marte Hoffiz confirmed that the 15 members of the Executive Committee and Board of Administration will have the responsibility of ratifying the people presented by the presidency for the positions of first and second vice president, general secretary and treasurer.

"The Board approved what would be my working cabinet, but that has been discussed since the executive meeting on Friday," Marte Hoffiz told PV MEDIA SPORTS.

The head of NORCECA will also present the new conformation of the 11 working commissions that are Sports Organization, Beach, Development, Finance, Marketing, Arbitration, Press, Medical, Legal, Technical - VIS and Coaches.

Marte Hoffiz was elected president of NORCECA for the first time on October 30, 2001.

NORCECA will have the Zoom platform with the support of Central Caribe Sports for the dissemination of the Congress since it is expected that around 75 delegates and participants will be connected.
