NORCECA mourns death of Costa Rican executive

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 26, 2015 – NORCECA Confederation regrets to inform the sad news of the death of Mayra Díaz Castro, General Secretary of the Costa Rican National Federation.

Diaz Castro was an enthusiastic and devoted worker in favor of the development of volleyball and beach volleyball in her native Costa Rica and paid invaluable services to the Costa Rican Volleyball Federation as a close collaborator with its president Edgar Alvarado.

“We are saddened by the news as we knew her qualities as a person and what she meant for the institution of volleyball in Costa Rica,” said Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, president of NORCECA.

Alvarado and the rest of the members of the executive committee were elected for the 2015-2018 period last December.

She is survived by her son Jose Andres Díaz Castro.
