Confederation is deeply saddened to inform about the death of
Mr. Hector Adolfo Centeno Bolaños, who passed away on January
1st in Guatemala. He was 81.
Mr. Centeno, a civil engineer, was the father of Mme. Marta
Centeno de Sajche, president of the Central American Association
of Volleyball Federations and FIVB and NORCECA Executive Vice
President.
He was a prominent academic with a master degree in physics from
the University of Texas in the United States.
Mr. Centeno, a professor in mathematics and physics and former
president of the Guatemalan Association of Engineers and
Architects, was president of the Universidad del Valle of
Guatemala (1992-2001) which recognized him as Emeritus
President.
He also lectured in development of natural resources and
environmental protection and was honorary president of the
Defenders of Nature Foundation and member of the National
Council for Protected Areas. |
