NORCECA
mourns the passing of John Griffith
BARBADOS, November 14, 2022.- The NORCECA Volleyball Confederation
mourns the passing of Barbadian John Griffith, former Vice-president of
the Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association CAZOVA and NORCECA Treasurer,
due to a lengthy illness.
Griffith,
age 65, was the longest serving president of the Barbados Volleyball
Association (BVA) holding the top post from 1996 until his health forced
his retirement in 2018.
During
his position as BVA president, he oversaw a golden era of Barbados
volleyball where the men won ten consecutive Caribbean titles and the
women clinched six. In 2001 Barbados became the first English speaking
Caribbean nation to host a NORCECA Senior men’s finals.
Griffith
also held the position of FIVB’s Internal Auditor and served as the
Treasurer of the Barbados Olympic Association from 2004 to 2017.
John
leaves to mourn his wife Carol and daughter Erica, to whom we send our
deepest condolences. |
