NORCECA once again leads in doping control
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, June 26, 2020 The NORCECA
Confederation conducted 47.16 percent of the doping tests
carried out in the volleyball and beach volleyball competitions
in 2019 while the remaining 52.84 was distributed among the
other four continental organizations within the FIVB - Europe,
Asia, Africa and South America.
The information was offered Thursday night during the virtual
meeting of the Medical Commission as part of the report of its
president, Dr. Victor Figueroa.
“Once again, NORCECA was the leading confederation in the doping
control as we aim for a clean sport free of performance
enhancing drugs,” Dr. Figueroa said.
Dr. Figueroa also made reference to the guidance for the
recollection of samples following the pandemic COVID-19. The
protocol include the use of masks, gloves and keeping the
distance while prohibit shaking hands with athletes.
He also reported the FIVB position regarding the gender of the
athlete saying that: it is determined by a combination of the
birth certificate demonstrating the gender assignment at birth
and the initial registration in volleyball.
Also explained the protocol to follow after a concussion
suffered by an athlete and made a complete review to the WADA
Code. |
