SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, March 23, 2020 – NORCECA
Confederation, in close consultation with local organizers, has
decided to postpone the first three tournaments of the year
scheduled in the 2020 Beach Volleyball Circuit due to the
pandemic Coronavirus and its consequences for international
traveling.
The events affected are Aguascalientes in Mexico (April 16-19),
Varadero in Cuba (April 30-May 4) and Punta Cana in the
Dominican Republic (May 6-11).
Indhira Ramirez, director of NORCECA Beach Volleyball Department
informed all National Federations and organizers in a circular
letter of March 22.
The letter reads that in NORCECA the health and safety of our
athletes, referees, officials and fans is first priority, one
that we must take care. The decision to postpone these events
will ensure that athletes can focus on their health and fitness,
and preparedness for the rest of the 2020 Beach Volleyball
Circuit.
Ramírez indicated that NORCECA will continue to work with the
National Federations and the event organizers of the mentioned
countries to find appropriate dates to reschedule those
tournaments. |
