LAUSANNE, Switzerland, March 20, 2022 – NORCECA
teams qualified to the FIVB Volleyball Women’s
World Championship 2022 already know their
opponents in the first round following the
drawing of lots held in Lausanne last Thursday.
Last year’s Tokyo 2020 Olympic champions and
current FIVB World Ranking leaders USA headline
Pool C, which also features defending 2018 world
champions Serbia besides Germany, Bulgaria,
Canada and Kazakhstan.
The Dominican Republic will play in Pool B
against co-host Poland, Turkey, Korea, Thailand
and Croatia.
Puerto Rico will compete in Pool A led by
co-host Netherlands which also includes Italy,
Belgium, Cameroon and Kenya.
Pool D includes Brazil, China, Japan, Colombia,
Argentina and Czech Republic.
The 24 participating teams will all play their
first games at the GelreDome in Arnhem, before
the participants in Pools B and C transfer to
the Polish cities of Gdansk and Lodz,
respectively. Pools A and D will stay in Arnhem.
After the first stage, the top four teams in
each pool will advance to the second phase
featuring two pools of eight teams each (to be
played in Rotterdam and Lodz), with the best
four moving on to the quarterfinals. |
