NORCECA will evaluate to have qualifier to World’s Beach U19
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, November 23, 2020 - Following
the postponement by the International Volleyball Federation of
the U19 Beach Volleyball World Championship to September 2021,
NORCECA will evaluate venues to organize the qualifying
tournament for this event.
The FIVB changed the date of the World Championship now to be
held from September 15 to 18 in Thailand.
“To date, as provided in the NORCECA regulations, a qualifying
event must be held, however, if the qualifying event cannot be
held, the ranking as of December 31, 2019 of the continental
circuit will be used to classify the teams of the NORCECA
according to the vacancies available”, said to PV MEDIA SPORTS
the president of the entity, Cristóbal Marte Hoffiz.
The possible venue for the qualifier could be defined at the
next meeting of the beach volleyball commission which will be
virtually during the month of December.
Meanwhile, the FIVB also left open the possibility of one of its
countries organizing the U-21 Beach World Championship in 2021.
"We have on the agenda of the meeting to discuss whether any
country is interested in this World Championship," said Marte
Hoffiz.
Another topic of the commission meeting will be to discuss the
possible resumption of the Continental Circuit that could not be
held in 2020 due to the Covid-19 crisis. |
