NORCECA works to spread the beach volleyball seed
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 8, 2021 - NORCECA
will concentrate its efforts on the development of beach
volleyball as a way to expand the seed of this growing
discipline mainly in the many islands that are part of the
Caribbean and the Eastern Caribbean, two of the most important
development zones of the confederation.
Under the slogan "The Gold is in the Sand", the NORCECA
Confederation is currently working on a program aimed at local
authorities and potential sponsors in order to encourage the
practice of this discipline that is more affordable in terms of
economic and human resources.
The report is included in the activity report presented by the
president of NORCECA, Cristóbal Marte Hoffiz, during the 37th
FIVB World Congress that was held virtually on February 5, 6 and
7.
Likewise, Marte Hoffiz highlighted the work being done to bring
the sport closer to fans through the broadcasts of its events on
television by subscription, which at the same time will generate
income to pay for development programs in the youth and minors
categories.
At the same time, the president of NORCECA highlighted the
efforts being carried out to increase the practice of volleyball
at a tender age, which has involved government sports
authorities and Olympic committees in order to bring the sport
to schools.
He also reported how NORCECA countries such as the United
States, Canada and Mexico are open to the possibility of
organizing FIVB volleyball and beach volleyball events due to
their capacity and resources along with the popularity of those
disciplines in many regions of those nations. .
As an example of volleyball growth due to the quality of its
national teams, Marte Hoffiz cited the birth of the National
League in the Dominican Republic with very good results in the
first two years of its operation. |
