National Beach Volleyball Course concludes in Santo Domingo
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, April 13, 2014 – A national
beach volleyball four-day course organized by the Dominican
Republic Volleyball Federation in cooperation with the NORCECA
Confederation and the NORCECA/FIVB Regional Development Center
in Santo Domingo successfully concluded on Sunday.
Seventy-three participants hailing from the 32 provinces of the
country took part in the course directed by Osvaldo Abreu of
Cuba, who had former volleyball and beach volleyball player
Hector Romero as one of his assistants.
Ramon García, president of the Dominican Federation, expressed
his satisfaction for the completion of the course during the
closing ceremony with the presentation of certificates.
“We are achieving one of our big goals which is the proper
supervised training of the coaches and referees,” Garcia said.
“By doing this we can guarantee better players in the future and
better officiated matches”
“With the Dominican Republic located in an island beach
volleyball comes naturally to us,” he added. “So we need to
multiply efforts to disseminate the sport and attract the young
generation to practice it.”
The instructor Abreu praised the willingness and interest shown
by the participants and encouraged all them to work in favor of
the expansion of beach volleyball in the country.
On the other hand, Nelson Ramirez, the director of the
development center, commented on the variety of activities
organized by the center both in Dominican Republic as well as in
other countries.
He expressed his gratitude to NORCECA Confederation and its
president Cristobal Marte for the continuous support in the
organization of the courses and seminars.
“The Dominican Republic Federation requested our logistic
support for several national courses and NORCECA president
immediately offered endorsement,” Ramirez said. |
