SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, March 14, 2016 – The
Dominican Republic Volleyball Federation concluded a three-day
national course for referees, scorers and line judges that
gathered together 96 participants from all over the country.
The course, which was organized by the NORCECA/FIVB Regional
Development Center in the Dominican Republic, had the financial
support from NORCECA Confederation for a third consecutive year.
Luis Mejía Oviedo, president of the Dominican Olympic Committee,
attended the closing ceremony and was one of the authorities
presenting the certificates to those who passed the course.
“It is very important to develop more and more referees and
scorers as the practice of volleyball continues to expand in the
country,” Mejía said. “The provincial tournaments at the
different age-group levels should be well organized and
refereeing and scorers are part of the whole picture.”
Ramón Garcia, president of the Dominican Republic Volleyball
Federation, expressed congratulations to all the participants
who received also a referee national card to officiate in local
tournaments.
“We will continue doing our part playing as facilitators to
spread volleyball throughout the country,” García said. “I also

Hoffiz for the support in the organization of this important
course.”
