Netherlands blanked Dominican Republic
STUTTGART, Germany, June 12, 2019 – Netherlands outclassed
Dominican Republic in their contest at the Women’s Volleyball
Nations League on Wednesday.
The European side dominated the Caribbean squad 3-0 (25-18,
25-21, 25-18) to claim their third victory against 8 losses. The
Dominicans fell to 5-6.
It was the eleventh consecutive victory for Netherlands over
Dominican Republic at world level tournaments. The Dominicans
won their first match against Netherlands 3-0 at the 1974 World
Championship but have lost all their 11 world level meetings
with the Dutch since.
Netherlands dominated all the scoring categories during the
match: Attacks (40-32), Serves (6-3), Blocks (7-2) and Errors
(11-12).
Anne Buijs led the winners with 12 points. Gaila Gonzalez and
Brayelin Martínez finished with 13 and 10 points, respectively,
for the losers.
The two team will complete the fifth stage of the Volleyball
Nations League on Thursday the Dominican Republic will pay
Belgium and Netherlands will meet Germany. |
