Nicaragua and Canada with successful start in Men’s Punta Cana

PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, April 16, 2022 – The men’s teams of Nicaragua and Canada moved into the semifinals of the Punta Cana Qualifier to the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships after claiming two victories each to win their respective pools on Saturday.

Ruben Mora and Denis López of Nicaragua won Pool A with victories over Oscar Martínez and Hayerling de Jesus of Dominican Republic 2-0 (21-18, 21-14) and off Costa Rica’s Daniel Dyner and Sebastian Valenciano 2-0 (21-14, 21-9).

In the other match of Pool A, Martínez/De Jesus defeated Dyner/Valenciano 2-0 (21-18, 21-18).

Meanwhile, Daniel Dearing and Sam Schachter of Canada dominated Pool B with victories over Marc Lomeli and Daniel Samuelson of U.S. Virgin Islands 2-0 (21-9, 21-17) and Joel Theodore and Kareem Thomas of Trinidad & Tobago 2-0 (21-17, 21-18).

Lomeli/Samuelson defeated Theodore/Thomas 2-0 (21-17, 21-18).

In Saturday’s quarterfinals, Martínez/De Jesus will play Theodore/Thomas while Lomeli/Samuelson will face Dyner/Valenciano.
