Nicaragua prevailed over Panama with a huge margin in attacks

 

BELIZE CITY, Belize, July 18, 2023.- Nicaragua prevailed over Panamá 3-0 (25-16/25-17/25-13) with a huge 38 to 18 margin in attacks, a difference of 20 points to earn their third win in a row to start the third day at the Women’s U19 AFECAVOL Central American Championship.

 

Nicaragua’s superiority in attacks was overwhelming thanks to its leading scorers, middle blocker María Cecilia Torrez with 13 points, 8 on kills, opposite hitter María Grace Zeledon  with 13 points from attacks and outside hitter and team captain Brisa Pérez with 12 points, including 9 attacks.  con 13 puntos todos de ataque, y por la punta y capitana Brisa Pérez con 12 puntos, incluyendo 9 ataques.

 

Nicaragua was superior from the first set that ended 25-16, the second 25-17 and the third 25-13.

 

Nicaragua scored 3 points on blocks and Panama 2. Nicaragua scored 11 points from serves, while Panama scored 5 points.

 

The top scorers of Panama were team captain, outside hitter Ekaterina Ureña  with 9 points, on 8 kills and one serve, and outside hitter Lirieth Ríos, with 7 points, on 5 from attacks and two on blocks. con 7 puntos,

 

Nicaragua scored 23 points from opponent errors. Panama scored 21 points thanks to opponent errors.

 

On Wednesday July 19, Nicaragua will face Costa Rica at 2:30pm and Panama plays against  Guatemala at 5:00pm.
