Nicaragua set their pace

 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, September 6, 2017. - Nicaragua established their own pace after defeating Panama by 3-0  (25-12, 25-12, 25-21) in the second match of day one of the XVII AFECAVOL U-21 Men’s Central American Championship at IND Volleyball venue in Managua, Nicaragua.

 

Nicaragua managed to control the action during the first two sets with powerful spikes over the net, Panama’s reaction kicked in the third set but at the last moment, the host team recovered to finish with their first victory.

 

Nicaragua held a (32-19) advantage in spikes and (5-3) in blocking, with Enmanuel Reyes and Denis Lopez as leading scorers with 10 points apiece. Panama’s captain Jose Anguizola scored 13 points and Rodrigo Rodriguez 7 points.

 

Capatin Jose Anguizola of Panama said “we were really nervous in the beginning, we are a renovated and new team; we slowly gained confidence, but it wasn’t enough. Nicaragua has improved over the past two years; their powerful serves damaged our game”.

 

Captain Jonny Zeledon of Nicaragua expressed “the team was confident to finish with a good result because of all our hard preparation, we were consistent, and we held advantage the entire match. Panamá was not easy; we had to battle each and every point to beat them”.
