Nicaragua with perfect record 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, September 8, 2017.- Nicaragua remains unbeaten and with perfect record after defeating Guatemala 3-0  (25-23, 25-21, 30-28) at the XVII AFECAVOL Men’s U-21 Central American Championship at IND Volleyball venue in Managua.

Nicaragua and Guatemala engaged with an exciting performance, using their best abilities; finally the home team was more effective and remains undefeated.

This is Nicaragua’s fourth straight victory to lead the competition with 20 points; Guatemala has 2 wins and one defeat, their next opponent is Costa Rica.

Jonny Zeledon led Nicaragua with 20 points, followed by Byron Hernandez with 13 and Denis Lopez with 10. Guatemala balanced their offense with Edgar Maldonado on 18 points and Jonathan Paz scored 13 points.

Nicaragua controlled Guatemala with 41-38 margin in kills, 86 in blocking and 5-1 in serves.

Captain Jonny Zeledon of Nicaragua commented “this is one more step into winning a medal; I thank God that the medal has a color; now we must focus on tomorrow’s schedule and try to win the gold”.

Captain David Alvarado of Guatemala expressed “it was a very close match, we both wanted to win and unfortunately it wasn’t us; I hope we can get back on track on this evenings second session against Costa Rica”.
