Nicaragua with three wins after beating Panama
MANAGUA, Nicaragua, June 27, 2019 - Nicaragua achieved its third
victory of the IXV Central American U23 Women’s Championship, by
winning 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-20) to still winless Panama,
despite giving strong battles.
The Nicaraguan team was better in blocking with 12-5 and service
6-4, and took advantage of the opposing errors 39-21, being
overcome in attack 21-18.
Dalia Conto with nine points and María Fernanda Campos with 8
points, were the best in Nicaragua, while for Panama Yileen NG
was the best with 11 points.
Claudia Noguera, coach of Nicaragua: "It was an important game
for Nicaragua, we needed to win 3-0 to accumulate more points
and have options... the two previous victories were 3-2. Some
moments there was lack of concentration, but for tomorrow the
girls are very animated and working hard mentally to face Costa
Rica".
Ismael Ortega, coach of Panama: "As I have been saying, our goal
is to get to Panama and start working as a real team, with more
preparation time, to concentrate the athletes, to train in a
collective, because this is a team sport and that is the goal".
"We have to train more, because it is almost impossible to
achieve results against teams with more training... we have
human resources, there is a future in this generation, but it is
a project in the medium and long term."
Nicaragua is measured against Costa Rica at 6:30 in the
afternoon on Friday and Panama has rest. |
