Nicaragua women and Costa Rica men lead on day one at U17 Central
American Championship in Costa Rica
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, November 24, 2023. - The sand courts of La Sabana
welcomed the Central American pairs who, under the capital sun, played
their first day in the inaugural U17 Beach Volleyball Central American
Championship.
The competition of the first edition of the Under-17 Beach Central
American Championship started on Friday morning, November 24, with the
victory of Ella Resau/Yulimar Alvarado from Nicaragua, who defeated
Keysi Fuentes/Dayanis Ríos from Panama 2-0 (21-11/21-11). Nicaragua also
won against the hosts Sury Jiménez/Mariana Fallas in their second game
21-16/21-11.
Daniela Vigil/Devora Medina from El Salvador won 2-0 against Valeria
Vásquez/Angie Osorio from Guatemala with scores of 21-16/21-06.
Meanwhile, Panama won their second match against Guatemala 2-0
(21-16/21-11).
With these results, Nicaragua tops the standins, followed by 2-Panama,
3-El Salvador, 4-Guatemala, and 5-Costa Rica.
Meanwhile, in men, Panama with Yustin Gantes/Einar Rodríguez defeated
Nicaragua’s Fernando Castro/Diego Cardoza 2-0 (21-15/21-10).
The local duo, Cristian Oporta/Stanley Grant, won in three sets against
Guatemala’s Juan Carlos Méndez/Daniel Sosa 21-14/18-21/15-06. In their
second game, Costa Rica defeated Panama in three sets
21-19/17-21/12-15.
The day concluded with the game between Guatemala 2-0 Nicaragua, ending
with scores 21-17/21-14 for Guatemala.
Costa Rica leads the standings, followed by 2-Panama, 3-Guatemala, and
4-Nicaragua.
