GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, October 2 2021. -
Jefferson Cascante/Kevin Hilario (NCA 1), Carlos
Solís/Cristopher Cascante (NCA 2), Christopher
and Yoel Guardado (ESA 1) alongside Julián
Araya/Jhostin Varela (CRC 2) advanced to
semifinals of the XIII U21 Central American
Beach Volleyball Champinship being held in
Guatemala.
In semifinals, Julián Araya/Jhostin Varela of
Costa Rica 2 face Carlos Solís/Cristopher
Cascante of Nicaragua 2; while Christopher and
Yoel Guardado (ESA 1) go head to head against
current champion Jefferson Cascante teaming up
with Kevin Hilario (NCA 1).
Nicaragua 2 of Carlos Solís/Cristopher Cascante,
and twin brothers Christopher and Yoel Guardado
of El Salvador 1, as well as Julián Araya/Jhostin
Varela of Costa Rica 2, reach semifinals
undefeated.
In quarterfinals, Araya/Varela prevailed 2-0
(21-13, 21-10) over Honduras de Ever Allen/Kevin
Herrera, and Guardado twins dominated Belizeans
Wilder Martínez/Ernesto Escobar 2-0 (21-9,
21-10). Both semifinalists had already secured
first place in pool A and C respectively.
Solís/Cascante (NCA 2) completed the preliminary
round as first in pool B defeating Martínez/Escobar
of Belize 2-0 (21-9, 21-10); and then moved in
the semifinal round over José Fernández/Andru
Jones (CRC 1) with 2-0 (21-16, 21-18).
Defending champion Jefferson Cascante with Kevin
Hilario (NCA 2) opened the second day of
competition defeating Jeffrey Porres/Nestor
Gutiérrez (GUA 2) 2-0 (21-12, 21-10) finishing
second place in pool A and in quarterfinals they
beat ante Gabriel Vargas /Andrés Gómez (ESA 2)
2-0 (21-17, 21-14).
Position matches, semifinals and finals will be
held on Sunday.
