Nicaraguan men claim AFECAVOL beach title
BELIZE CITY, Belize, August 18, 2019 - Nicaragua’s
Ruben Mora Romero and Danny Lopez Alvarado complemented
their country-women’s victory by also winning the XIX
Central American men’s beach volleyball championship in
Belize City Sunday afternoon.
Mora/Lopez triumphed 21-17, 19-21, 15-12 over Guatemala’s
Andy Leonardo Blanco and Luis Garcia Betancourt, who took
home the silver medal.
Nicaragua’s duo of Mora-López won 21-14, 21-16 over Costa
Rica’s Victor Alpizar and Sebastian Valenciano in the
semifinal phase.
Guatemala’s Leonardo-Garcia triumphed 22-20, 21-13 over El
Salvador’s Carlos Escobar and David Vargas in the other
semifinal
Costa Rica’s Alpizar-Valenciano won the bronze medal match:
21-16, 21-12 over El Salvador’s Escobar-Vargas.
“I’m
very happy with this championship, which is the third I’ve
won with my teammate Danny,” Mora declared. “We’ve been
playing together from 2017, win some - lose some; every game
is different. Guatemala played very strong, and this is why
we train. Now we hope to get ready for what comes next:
NORCECA, and we hope to end the year with a bang!”
