Nicaraguans Mora and López in the semifinals

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, October 9, 2021 - Nicaragua with two couples, El Salvador and Guatemala are the semifinalists of the XX Central American Major Beach Volleyball Championship.

 

The current monarchs, Danny López and Rubén Mora of Nicaragua, advanced to the semifinal by beating Wilfredo Vega and Adonis Rodríguez of Honduras, 2-0 (21-5, 21-17).

 

In the other part, Andy Leonardo and Luis García beat Favio López/David Vargas of El Salvador 2-0 (21-15, 21-13). López/Mora (NCA 1) and Leonardo/García (GUA 1) will play one of the semifinals on Sunday.

 

For their part, Denis López and Cristopher Cascante of Nicaragua 2, beat Sebastián Valenciano/Boris Duarte of Costa Rica 1, 2-0 (21-13, 21-19), advancing to the semifinal, where they will face the Salvadoran couple Franklin Flores/Armando Guatemala, who recovered from losing the first set and trail in the second to end up winning 2-1 (18-21, 21-18, 15-10), against José Fernández/Daniel Dyner of Costa Rica 2.

 

Flores/Guatemala were supported by a good number of local fans, exhibiting mostly good defense, to advance to the semifinal.

 

López/Mora secured the first place in group A by beating 2-0 (21-5, 21-17) to Vega / Rodríguez, from Honduras 2.

 

López/Cascante, were first of the B, by beating this Saturday 2-1 (21-23, 21-7, 15-8 to Leonardo/García.

 

López/Vargas, from ESA 2, qualified for the quarterfinals by defeating Valenciano  /Duarte, from Costa Rica 1, 2-1 (13-21, 21-18, 15-13).

 

While the couple 1 from El Salvador, Flores/Guatemala, beat Vega / Rodríguez, from Honduras 2, 2-0 (21-12, 21-14) to secure a ticket to the quarterfinals.
