Nicaragua’s Lugo and Alonzo crowned at U21

CIUDAD GUATEMALA, Guatemala, July 14, 2019 - Lourdes Lugo and Anielka Alonzo of Nicaragua were crowned champions of the XII Central American U21 Volleyball Beach Volleyball Championship that took place on the sand fields of Campo Marte in the Guatemalan capital.

The Nicaraguans dethroned Guatemalans Paola Alvarado and Laura Quiñonez who defended the title won last year in Puerto Cortes, Honduras. After 3 well-fought sets, Lugo/Alonzo got a deserved victory 21-18, 18-21 and 15-13.

The Guatemala 2 pair (Ana Arévalo/Joselyn Muñoz) defeated the Costa Rican couple 2 (Valeria Matarrita/Irene Gómez) in the game for the third place. The Guatemalans had won the first set 21-17 an in the second set  it was the Costa Ricans who dominated 12-9, when Irene Gómez got injured and could no longer play because of a tear in her left leg.
