SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, April 15, 2015 – Jennifer Nogueras of
Caguas was unanimously voted as Rookie of the Year of the Puerto
Rican Women’s Volleyball Superior League.
Nogueras, who played in her first season following a successful
college career in the United States, received the 25 first-place
votes from a panel of journalists and experts.
She joins Aury Cruz (1998) as the only players to win the award
after first playing for the national team.
Nogueras, who finished third among the best setters, helped
Caguas to the best record in the league’s regular series. She is
the fourth setter to earn the award joining Roselly Pérez
(2005), Yeimilly Mojica (2007) and Mariana Thon (2011).
On the other hand, Natalia Valentin of Ponce won the best setter
award for third consecutive year, a feat never accomplished in
the history of the league.
Valentin received 18 first-place votes, followed by veteran
Vilmarie Mojica of Juncos who got four first-place votes. |
