SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, January 20, 2016 – The Puerto
Rican Volleyball Federation Beach Volleyball Council Director,
Arnaldo Snachez, confirmed the return of the Norceca Continental
Beach Vollyeball Circuit to Boqueron Beach, scheduled on early
August.
The Norceca Beach Volleyball circuit will have a total of 18
competitions, according to the information released on the last
meetings day in Santo Domingo.
The Puerto Rico stop will be played at the Central American
Stadium located in Cabo Rojo Beach and it is scheduled from
August 3rd through the 8th.
“We presented that date and it was confirmed. The circuit will
have 18 dates. That is something historic, and Puerto Rico is
back,” Sanchez explained. As President of the Beach Volleyball
Commission he was responsible of the success and the growing
experienced by the Continental Circuit during the last seven
years after succeeding Carlos Beltran.
At the last Beach Volleyball meetings in Santo Domingo, Angel
“Cholo” Pena, National Technical responsible of the Puerto Rican
Volleyball Federation responsible, also attended.
The Norceca Beach Volleyball Circuit starts in Guatemala on Marc
10 and will conclude on March 14. The Finals are scheduled from
Novemer 24 through November 28 in Trinidad and Tobago.
“The number of tournaments is amazing and have shown hoy fast
beach volleyball has grown in our region,” said Cristobal Marte
Hoffiz, President of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Federation.
Matches are scheduled to be played from Friday through Sunday,
with the teams arriving on Thursday and leaving on Monday,
respectively.
Host countries have the rights to register two teams per gender
with their main couple seaded as number 1 series’ head if it is
among the first four in the FIVB ranking and will be fourth in
case of being fifth or below,
It was also decided that in order to avoid the case of having
two teams of the same country playing at the finals, those
couples will face each other at the semis.
The Beach Volleyball Commission presided by Ed Drakich, also
approved that there will be a quota for teams composition,
depending on the region of every host country.
The quota distribution will work as follows:
North & Central 7, AFECAVOL 3, CAZOVA 3, ECVA 3
AFECAVOL 5, North & Central 5, CAZOVA 3, ECVA 3
CAZOVA 4, North & Central 5, AFECAVOL 4, ECVA 3
ECVA 4, North & Central 5, AFECAVOL 4, CAZOVA 3
Teams will be seeded according to FIVB rankings and the
registration of teams will be accepted until 30 days before the
scheduled date of the tournament.
