Nicaragua, T&T-1 men win two in two
MISSION BEACH, Trinidad, November 16, 2012 - The men's team of
hosts Trinidad &Tobago-1 and Nicaragua won their two matches
contested on the opening day on the tenth stop of the NORCECA
Beach Volleyball Circuit which served off under mixed weather
conditions at Missions Beach on Friday.
The Trinidadians Fabien Whitfield and Daniel Williams, who train
at the venue on a daily basis, booked a main draw quarterfinal
spot against Nicaraguans, Gerald Umana and Henry Hernandez.
The local pair first defeated Dominica’s David Toussaint and
Julian Seraphine 21-8, 21-10, and in the second round, the T&T
pair exacted revenge for their semifinal loss in St Lucia last
week, with a straight sets win over the Castries-born pairing of
Julien Biscette and Joseph Clercent 21-11, 23-21
The Central Americans had little trouble with Grenada's Jonell
Phillip and Darron Oxford in their opener and won 21-5, 21-7
before battling past Canada's Michael Hammond and William
Sidgwick 21-17, 21-18.
