Aruba Tournament set to serve off at Druif Beach
Oranjestad, Aruba, November 29, 2012 – Saint Lucia will play
against Panama in the men’s competition while USA-A will meet
Costa Rica-B in the women’s division as the Aruba Beach
Volleyball Tournament kicks off at Druif Beach on Friday
morning.
The eleventh and final stage of the 2012 NORCECA will have a
money-prize purse of US$16,000 with the winning pair per gender
pocketing US$3,000.
Filomena Curiel, president of Aruba Volleyball Association,
welcomed the athletes during the general technical meeting held
at Divi Aruba Hotel and wished all them a pleasant stay in the
islands.
“I wish all of you can enjoy Aruba but the main objective is to
play up to the highest of your capacity and to give a good show
of volleyball,” she said.
Nelson Ramirez, delegate of NORCECA, proudly expressed that
beach volleyball is a reality in NORCECA while announced that
next year the circuit will expand to 15 tournaments.
Arnaldo Sanchez, technical director, informed that teams will be
divided in four pools according to the current rankings of 2012
and the top three teams will move to the championship bracket on
Saturday’s afternoon.
It is the first time Aruba is hosting one of the stops of the
NORCECA Circuit as also was the case in Saint Lucia last
October. |
