Dominican Republic undefeated in NORCECA-C
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, November 3, 2012 – Dominican
Republic defeated Haiti in straight sets (25-15, 25-17, 25-15)
to remain undefeated in the NORCECA-C First Round Tournament of
the 2014 FIVB Men’s World Championship.
The Dominicans scored an early win over Guadeloupe on Saturday
morning and have now a 2-0 win-loss mark while Haiti fell to
1-1. The home side held advantages of 12-4 and 8-1 in blocks and
aces respectively.
Luis Adames and Elnis Palomino spearheaded the winners with 14
and 13 points respectively. Palomino concluded with four blocks
and three aces while Adames had three blocks and two service
winners.
“I am very glad because my team followed 100 percent our tactic
plan and all the players are taking part,” Dominican Republic’s
coach Osiel Vazquez said.
Yves Larrieux coach of Haiti said: “The Dominican Republic had
better serves, attacks and blocks but I hope we can play against
them in the finals and do better than tonight.”
“The levels of both teams are different, but Haiti play very
organized and you can see they have prepared very well,”
Dominican captain Tolinson Aquino said. “We were prepared for
the match and everything went well for us.”
“The Dominican is by far a superior team with great offense. We
are focused now on winning our match of tomorrow against
Guadeloupe,” Haiti’s captain Frantz Joseph said. |
