Opening in Aruba includes Carnival Show
ORANJESTAD, Aruba, November 30, 2012 – The official opening
ceremony of the Aruba Beach Volleyball Tournament held on Friday
night featured a small but meaningful sample of the traditional
Carnival of Aruba.
The queen of this year’s festival accompanied by the junior
princess and prince led the participant members of the local
group that paraded in front of the players involved in the
eleventh and final stage of the 2012 NORCECA Circuit at Druif
Beach.
The Aruba Carnival is a month-long thrilling show of music,
dance, costumes and marches that starts in February and includes
street parties, big parades and music mixing reggae, calypso,
soca, steel and brass bands.
Filomena Curiel, president of the Aruba Volleyball Association,
expressed her satisfaction for the opportunity to host for the
first time one of the stages of the annual circuit now in its
seventh edition.
Nelson Ramirez, NORCECA’s delegate and Arnaldo Sanchez,
technical director, also took turns to praise the local
organizers and the Ministry of Tourism of Aruba for its support
to the organization. |
