Dominican Republic beat Haiti for top place
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, November 4, 2012 – The
Dominican Republic defeated Haiti 25-14, 25-16, 25-21 on Sunday
night to finish with an unbeaten 4-0 win-loss record at the
NORCECA-C First Round Tournament of the 2014 FIVB Men’s World
Championship.
The winners blanked Haiti 11-0 in the aces charts and held a 6-3
difference in the blocking department.
Elnis Palomino led Dominican Republic with 10 points, including
three aces and Kelvin Campechano and Luis Adames added 9 and 7
respectively. Roudolphe Gaethan finished with 9 points for
Haiti.
“I am very glad with the results in the whole tournament and
our second line of players showed their potential,” Dominican
Republic’s coach Osiel Vazquez said.
“The matches against Dominican Republic will be very helpful for
us looking forward to the second round next year,” Haiti´s coach
Yves Larrieux said. |
