Women’s Beach Volleyball starts on Sunday

 

PUERTO VALLARTA, México, October 15, 2011 – The first matches of the Beach Volleyball competition of the XVI Pan American Games Guadalajara 2011 will take place in the women’s side at Pan American Stadium of Puerto Vallarta on Sunday.

 

The technical meeting was held on Friday at the hosting hotel being used as Sport Villa where athletes, coaches and delegates are lodged along with the organizing committee and the officials of the Pan American Union. The seedings and pools in both genders were announced for the tournament that runs from October 16-22.

 

The technical meeting was presided over by Marta Centeno, NORCECA Vice President in charge of Beach Volleyball, Arnaldo Sanchez, Competition Director, Pablo Sanchez, Medical Delegate, Marcelo Wagner, CSV Delegate, Laura Almaral, Competition Director from COPAG, Julio Perez, Appeal Commission, and Miguel Angel Ramirez, Referee Delegate.

 

All Sunday’s matches will be played in the main stadium.

 

In the morning session, the matches are: At 9:00 Galindo A.-Galindo C. (COL) v Orellana-Ramírez (GUA), at 10:00, Gómez–Guigou (URU) v Alfaro-Morales (CRC), at 11:00  Sinal N.–Sinal O (CUB) v Chila-Vilela (ECU).

 

In the afternoon session the schedule features: At 13:00 Franca-Silva (BRA) v Dyette-Phillip (TRI), at 14:00 Santiago–Yantin (PUR) v Avalos-Romero (ESA), at 15:00 Gallay-Zonta (ARG) v Bansley- Maloney (CAN), at 16:00 horas, Candelas-García (MEX) v Hernández- Rodríguez (NCA) and at 17:00 Day-Hughes (USA) v Rivas-Pazlivek (CHI).

 

The pools’ composition is as follows:

Pool E: Candelas-García (MEX), Gómez-Guigou (URU), Alfaro-Morales (CRC) y  Hernández-Rodríguez (NCA)

Pool F: Franca-Silva (BRA), Sinal N-Sinal O (CUB), Chila-Vilela (ECU) y Dyette-Philllip (TRI).

Pool G: Santiago-Yantin (PUR), Galla-Zonta (ARG), Bansley-Maloney (CAN) y Avalos-Romero (ESA).

Pool H: Galindo A- Galindo C. (COL), Day-Hughes (USA), Rivas-Pazlivek (CHI) y Orellana-Ramírez (GUA).
