Mexican legend Blanca Garcia attends volleyball matches
GUADALAJARA, Mexico, October 17, 2011 – Blanca Garcia, one of
the best Mexican volleyball players of all-time, has been a
regular spectator of the matches during the preliminary round of
the Pan American Games’ female tournament.
Garcia was a member of the Mexican National Team that won the
silver medal in the XII Central American Games held in Santo
Domingo in 1974 and was part of the All-Star team of that
competition.
Mexico lost to the gold medal match to a Cuba’s team led by
legendary Mercedes “Mamita” Perez. The Dominican Republic Team
won the bronze medal in that occasion.
Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, President of NORCECA and the Pan
American Volleyball Union, took the opportunity to greet Garcia
and attach her with a button of NORCECA new emblem.
“She was a symbol of Mexican volleyball for many years and we
are all very proud of her accomplishments as a player who was
always willing to represent her country,” Marte Hoffiz said.
In her brief chat with Marte Hoffiz in the VIP stands, Garcia
recalled the names of many of the players of her playing days
and the good memories she keeps of that past era. |
