Norceca and Pan American Volleyball recognize Cuban referee

GUADALAJARA, Mexico, October 29 2011. — Cuban volleyball referee
Omelio Castillo received a special tribute by the North, Central
American and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation as well as by
the Pan American Volleyball Union.
Norceca and UPV President, Cristobal Marte Hoffiz headed the
special celebration on the last day of competition at the XVI
Pan American Games prior to the USA-Canada men’s match.
“In this special moment we want to give credit to a person that
has sacrificed a lot in his life as a professional and as a
great volleyball referee who has traveled around the world
representing the American continent”, said Marte Hoffiz.
“Here at the Pan Am games a special, Omelio Castillo closes a
important cycle, his retirement is a successful retirement after
a brilliant career at the highest level”, he added.
Castillo received a special plaque of appreciation from the
Norceca and UPV President and was congratulated by the members
of the Control Committee who have worked intensively during both
Women’s and Men’s tournaments that will conclude this Sunday. |
