Olympians Navas and Gonzalez with good start

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, November 10, 2018 – Junior Olympians Allanis Navas and Maria Gonzalez achieved victories with their respective institutions in the start of the Female Senior Category of the XVIII Puerto Rican National School Volleyball Championship at the Borinquen Coqui Complex in Cupey.

Navas and Gonzalez recently represented Puerto Rico as a beach volleyball team at the Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games.

Navas, playing as libero for the Academia Discípulos de Cristo of Bayamon, had a good performance as stabilizer of the reception in the 25-10, 25-12 victory over Juan Antonio Corretje of Ciales.

Meanwhile, Gonzalez tallied 12 points to lead the 25-23, 25-13 victory of Colegio Piaget of Manatí ober Guamani School of Guayama.

Both players return to action on Sunday.

They finished in a solid fifth place at the Youth Olympic Games and fourth at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Colombia.
