Omaha
Supernovas Advance to MLV Championship
Match
for a Million
FRISCO, Texas, May 7, 2026.– The fourth-seeded Omaha Supernovas
opened the 2026 Major League Volleyball Championship with a
come-from-behind 3-2 win over the No. 1 seeded Indy Ignite at the
Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas on Thursday night.
The
win sends the Supernovas to the MLV “Match for a Million”
championship match on Saturday.
Omaha’s win marked the third consecutive season that the MLV’s top
seed lost its opening match at the Championship. The victory also
avenges the Supernova’s loss to the Ignite in last year’s semifinals
when Omaha entered the Championship as the top seed and defending
champion.
The
Supernovas trailed 2-1 in the match after Indy took a hard-fought
29-27 win in the third set, which goes in the books as the
highest-scoring set in MLV Championship history. Omaha rallied for a
25-20 win to tie the match at 2-2 before outlasting the Ignite,
15-13, in the fifth set to claim the victory.
Outside hitter Sarah Parsons paced the Supernovas with 20 points, 17
kills, two blocks and one ace. Janice Leao posted a team-high four
blocks while Brooke Mosher handed out 43 assists.
The
Ignite were led by middle blocker Lydia Martyn, who posted 19 points
on 12 kills, a match-high six blocks and one ace. Setter Mia Tuaniga
finished with 59 assists, the third-most by a player in an MLV
Championship match.
The Supernovas will face the winner of the San Diego Mojo vs. Dallas
Pulse match as the 2026 Major League Volleyball Championship
continues on Saturday at the Comerica Center. Tickets are on sale
now and fans can purchase tickets for the championship match that
will take place on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT and be broadcast on the ION
Network. |
