PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, July 1, 2021 –
The President of NORCECA Cristobal Marte Hoffiz,
accompanied by Ramon Garcia and Amos Anglade,
president of the Dominican Volleyball Federation
and Tournament Director, respectively, presented
a plaque of recognition to Mr. Ernesto Veloz for
his long contribution as organizer of the Punta
Cana stage of the NORCECA Circuit.
Marte Hoffiz praised the key participation of
Mr. Veloz to establish Punta Cana as one
traditional stop of the continental tour.
Mr. Veloz thanked the volleyball authorities and
the managers of the Impressive Hotel in Punta
Cana for hosting the U-23 players of both
genders hailing from eleven countries who are
competing for six spots towards the inaugural
Pan American Junior Games from November 25 to
December 5.
The general technical meeting opened with the
show of merengue presented by the dancing group
of the Impressive Hotel, whose general director
Radhames Martinez attended the ceremony as well
as Ivan Guilamo, president of the Volleyball
Association of La Altagracia province and Hoger
de Leon, mayor of Villa Tapia as special guest.
Luis José Jimenez Lao, technical director,
explained the competition system stating that
the 10 women teams will play in two pools of
five and the 11 men teams will be divided into
three pools, two of four pairs and one of three.
The action kicks off at 9:00 A.M. on Friday and
Saturday to determine the teams advancing to the
final qualification round on Sunday. |
