Padre Fantino wins Cibao stage of Claro Cup
SANTIAGO, Dominican Republic, November 27, 2018 - The team Padre
Fantino school of La Vega was crowned champion of the stage of
the Cibao in the Claro Intercollegiate Women's Volleyball Cup
2018 after defeating Sagrado Corazón de Jesús of Santiago by
score of 2-0, in a match held in the Pavilion of the Fernando
Valerio Club.
In the semifinals, Padre Fantino had beaten ALIC, (Santiago),
with score of 2 sets at 0 and Sagrado Corazón de Jesus to he
Iberia Institute (Santiago) with a score of 2-1.
After the final match was over, the players and coaches of the
Padre Fantino School received medals and the champion trophy
from Carolina Martínez, from the Department of Promotions and
Sponsorships of Claro.
The Intercollegiate Women's Volleyball Cup 2018, which is part
of Claro's collegiate sports platform, is sponsored by Samsung,
Gatorade, Seguros Universal, Coca Cola and Agua Dasani.
By winning the title of the Cibao stage, Padre Fantino advanced
to the national semifinals of the Intercollegiate Women's
Volleyball Cup in 2018, where they will face the Notre Dame
school in Santo Domingo.
In the other semifinal, Luis Muñoz Rivera, champion of last
year, will meet New Horizons.
In the quarterfinals, Luis Muñoz Rivera beat Santa Teresita 2-0
and with the same score, New Horizons beat the Apostolado and
Notre Dame to Saint Nicolas (La Romana).
Next Saturday, in the Volleyball Pavilion of the Juan Pablo
Duarte Olympic Center, in Santo Domingo, the semifinals will be
played.
At 2:00 in the afternoon, Luis Muñoz Rivera will face New
Horizons and at 3:30 p.m., Notre Dame will play against Padre
Fantino.
The next day, Sunday, on the same stage, it will be the finals
among the winners of the Saturday matches while the losers will
discuss the third place. |
