GATINEAU, August 14, 2022: The United States
won the bronze match today at the 15th Men’s Pan
American Cup at the Centre Slush Puppie arena in
Gatineau, Quebec.
Opponent Chile tried to extend the match with
strong third set performance, but the U.S.
rallied for the 1-3 (16-25, 15-25, 25-22, 21-25)
victory and the bronze medal
“I’m proud of my team and the ability to come
back after a really tough match last night
(semi-final) against Canada,” said U.S. Head
Coach Andy Read. “To respond like that today
against a very resilient Chilean team; I’m
really happy.”
The U.S. was the better attacking team (56-42)
and led in aces (11-5). Both teams had 7
blocking points and made an equal amount of
errors at 23.
Opposite Jake Hanes was the U.S. top scorer with
21 points, including 4 aces. Outside hitter
Vicente Parraguirre of Chile led all scorers
with 26 points. |
