Panama wins comfortable against El Salvador
PANAMA CITY, Panama, October 19, 2017 - Panama did not have
difficulties to win 3-0 (25-12, 25-10, 25-20) over El Salvador
in the third game of the first day of the XII Central American
Championship U19 of Men's Volleyball.
The hosts had 11 points from Jose Vásquez and 10 from Denzel
Arboine, while El Salvador had Diego Guidos, with 13 units, as
their best player. Panama was better in attack 32-19, in block
6-2 and in the service they were equal 2-2, in addition they
received more points by errors of El Salvador with 35 to 18.
Eugenio Ortiz, Panama coach: "We did not expect to win in three
sets, but our boys did well, they were organized. They are boys
of a very young age, you have to go guiding them and other times
you have to leave them alone to see how they develop. Tomorrow
we have two games and we have to fight them."
Denzel Arboine, Panama captain: "Thank God we were able to win
the victory and the public that came and supported us. The team
was eager to start this tournament and we got the triumph. We
hoped to have a game like that. Everything went well, despite
not training much time together we did well."
Ulises Trujillo, coach of El Salvador: "When you lose you can’t
evaluate a game well, although there are things that we can
rescue. We have to improve on several elements, we failed the
service, which is fundamental. We failed a lot and a little on
the receiving. I hope they can be better next match, The other
thing is that for most of them this is their first international
experience and the nervousness made them fail."
Diego Guidos, captain of El Salvador: "It was a very difficult
game, we knew that Panama would be a difficult opponent because
of its height, which we lack. We have players with little
experience, just a few repeating from other tournaments and that
was noticed in the first two sets, and in the third we played
much better, point after against Panama and we hope to be like
this the rest of the tournament. |
