Pavan and Melisa Humana-Paredes and Americans
April Ross and Alix Klineman are leading their
respective pools with 2-0 records securing spots
in the last of 16 round of the women’s beach
volleyball tournament at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic
Games.
In Pool A, Pavan-Humana Paredes first defeated
Netherlands’ Katja Stam and Raisa Schoon 2-0
(21-16, 21-14) and then won 2-0 (21-17, 21-14)
over Germany’s Karla Borger and Julia Sude.
Meanwhile, in Pool B April-Alix claimed a 2-0
(21-17, 21-19) victory against China’s Chen Sue
and Xinxin Wang and came back to win 2-0 (21-13,
21-16) against Spain’s Liliana Fernández and
Elsa Baquerizo.
In Pool C, Canada’s Heather Bansley and Brandie
Wilkerson are now 1-1. They started losing to
Sue and Wang 2-1 (18-21, 21-15, 15-11) and then
won 2-0 (22-20, 21-12) against Argentina’s Ana
Gallay and Fernanda Pereyra.
In Pool D, Americans Kelly Claes and Sarah
Sponcil are sitting at 1-0 following their 2-1
(21-13, 16-21, 15-11) victory against Latvia’s
Tina Graudina and Anastasija Kravcenoka.
In Pool C, Cuba’s Lidy Echeverría and Leila
Martínez are at 0-1 after losing their opening
match against Australia’s Mariafe Artacho and
Taliqua Clancy 2-0 (21-15, 21-14). |
