Peru swept Honduras 3-0
LIMA, Peru, May 13, 2019 - Peru swept Honduras 3-0 (25-7, 25-11,
25-15) in its first match in Pool B of the V U20 Women's
Volleyball Pan American Cup taking place at the Manuel Bonilla
Coliseum in Miraflores.
In 1 hour, 1 minute of action, those led by the Peruvian Olympic
medalist Natalia Málaga powerfully controlled their opponents in
all the lines: attack (41-14), blocking (8-0) and service (7-3).
The Peruvian attack was led by the captain, Ariana Arciniega
with 10 points. In Honduras the best performance came from its
captain, Nathaly Pérez with 5 talies.
Natalia Málaga, coach of Peru: "Our goal is in the Youth World
Champiomship in Mexico and we want to take advantage of each
match to refine teamwork. Today I was able to rotate girls who
may not be able to play against another teams, we know that as
the competition advances the rivals will be stronger, we will
fight to defend the flag at home".
We Caterine Leiva, coach of Honduras: "or the first two sets we
were very nervous, for the third they were more relaxed, I would
have liked them to play like that from the beginning. But I
understand, they are young girls before a name team, but they
fought and did their best, I am satisfied with the work they did
".
Peru will seek its second win in Pool B of the U20 Cup, on
Tuesday 14 at 7:00 pm when it faces the Guatemalan team.
Previously at 5:00 p.m., Honduras will play against Cuba. |
