Peruvian City to host U21 Pan American Cup
TARAPOTO, Peru, March 5, 2019 – The U21 Men’s Pan American Cup
will be held in Tarapoto, Peru from May 2-12 with one single
ticket available to the top ranked team among those not already
qualified to the FIVB Men’s World Championship.
The qualified teams will be seeded in Pool A and the host and
the other teams will be assigned in Pool B with the top ranked
team after the preliminary round earning the ticket to the world
championship regardless its confederation, Norceca or South
America.
The Men’s U21 FIVB World Championship will take place in Manama,
Bahrein from July 18-27.
The Norceca and South America teams already qualified to Bahrein
are Cuba, Brazil, Argentina and Canada. Invitations to
participate as well as the competition regulations have been
circulated among the national federations of both Norceca and
South America Volleyball Confederations.
The participating teams will arrive in Lima on May 2 and will be
transferred by plane to Tarapoto the following day. The
competition will take place from May 5 to 11.
The world event is held every two years starting in 1977 with
Russia winning the title 10 times, including four as the former
Soviet Union. It was a quadrennial tournament for the first two
editions
Poland is the reigning champion after winning the gold medal in
Czech Republic in 2017 followed by Cuba and Russia. |
