Poland survives in duel against Dominican Republic
BORYEONG, Korea, June 19, 2019 – Poland held off a strong
reaction by the Dominican Republic prevailing in an epic duel of
five sets (25-18, 25-20, 23-25, 22-25, 17-15) to keep alive its
chances of making the Final Six of the FIVB Women’s Volleyball
Nations League.
Malwina Smarzek (34) and Magdalena Styziak (24) were the only
Polish players with double figures in scoring.
Bethania de la Cruz (19), Gaila González (14), Jineiry Martínez
(13) and Prisilla Rivera (12) led the Dominican offense.
Poland now stands at 9-5 with 26 points in sixth place while the
Dominican Republic shows a 7-7 mark with 19 points.
In today’s action, Poland meets Korea (2-12) while the Dominican
Republic plays Japan (7-7). |
