Ponce shakes up the standings, and now all eyes turn to the
Quarterfinals schedule
COROZAL, Puerto Rico, March 19, 2026.- The regular season of the
Women’s Superior Volleyball League (LVSF) concluded Thursday night
with a crucial four-set victory by the Leonas de Ponce over the
Pinkin de Corozal. The result allowed Ponce to collect all three
available points and climb to fourth place in the standings,
dropping the Atenienses de Manatí to fifth.
Ponce closed the regular season with an 8-12 record and 24 points,
while Corozal—playing a match with no impact on their already
secured third-place position—earned no points in the loss and
finished with a 9-11 record and 27 total points.
The
Leonas won with set scores of 25-21, 15-25, 25-22, 25-19.
In
team statistics, Ponce led in blocks (11-10) and digs (71-70). The
Pinkin, meanwhile, held the advantage in aces (3-2), receptions
(46-33), and assists (23-14). Both teams finished the night with 51
attacks.
Leading Ponce’s offense was new reinforcement Sherridan Atkinson
with 19 points, followed by Abby Akey with 15 and Desire Cruz with
10.
For
Corozal, Ivania Ortiz and Jordan Illiff paced the offense with 18
points each.
The
Quarterfinals begin this weekend, divided into two groups:
Section A:
Cangrejeras de Santurce (20-0, 57 points), Pinkin de Corozal (9-11,
27 points), and Valencianas de Juncos (6-14, 19 points)
Section B:
Criollas de Caguas (10-10, 31 points), Atenienses de Manatí (7-13,
22 points), and Leonas de Ponce (8-12, 24 points)

Quarterfinals schedule in a forthcoming release on Friday. |
